Latest developments on “EU Stress Tests” and the statement by the chair of ENSREG.

After the first public meeting in January, the Peer Review Board and the European Commission committed to organise a second public meeting. This meeting was held on 8 May 2012 in Brussels (http://www.ensreg.eu/EU-Stress-Tests/Public-engagement).

In this regard, please note the statement of the chair of ENSREG, Andrej Stritar.

Final ENSREG report regarding the stress tests for European nuclear power plants is now available.

Following the conclusion of the peer review process, ENSREG has endorsed the ENSREG Summary Report as well as the 17 country specific peer review reports attached to it.

Furthermore, the national European regulators and the European Commission as ENSREG have adopted a joint statement on the Stress tests and Peer Review Process.

ENSREG establishes a 10-year indicative schedule for International Peer Review Missions in EU Member States.

The Nuclear Safety Directive (1) requires that the EU Member States shall, at least every 10 years, arrange for periodic self-assessments of their national framework and competent regulatory authorities and invite an international peer review of relevant segments of their national framework and/or authorities with the aim of continuously improving nuclear safety.

Proposed procedure on peer reviews agreed upon. Recommendations put forward by the three ENSREG Working Groups endorsed. Draft Work Programme for 2012/13 adopted. Chairperson mandate extended exceptionally for six months.

ENSREG WG2 - Seminar on "A better use of the Joint Convention in the EU", 2 - 4 November, Vienna

The seminar is open to the members of ENSREG's Working Group 2 and experts or representatives designated by the members of ENSREG.
