The sixth European Nuclear Safety Conference should have taken place in 2021, but it was postponed for one year due to the pandemic restrictions.
It took place on Monday 20 June (whole day) and Tuesday 21 June (morning) in Brussels under the auspices of the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG) and in cooperation with the European Commission.
It was held at the usual venue: Charlemagne building of the European Commission, 170 Rue de la Loi / Boulevard Charlemagne, 1040 Brussels:

As most of the Covid related measures had been lifted, we had a successful in-person event with more than 230 registered participants (speakers included). The conference was also web streamed.

One of the focuses of the conference was nuclear safety in times of major crises, such as the war in Ukraine or a pandemic. We addressed public participation in waste management and long-term operation of nuclear power plants, regulatory challenges that represent innovative designs, such as small modular reactors, and how to choose key topics of research in nuclear safety.
