Mr Pierre-Franck Chevet, ASN Chairman, was nominated as ENSREG chairperson during the last ENSREG plenary meeting in November 2015 following Mr Andy Hall’s retirement (ONR chief inspector).

Mr Chevet thanked his European counterparts for the confidence they have expressed by electing him and congratulated Mr Hall for having served as Chair for the last two years. Mr Chevet said “it’s a great privilege to serve as ENSREG chair in the forthcoming context of the implementation of the revised Nuclear Safety Directive by mid-2017”. ENSREG will have to coordinate particularly its action with WENRA (Western European Nuclear Regulators’ Association) for the achievement of the first Topical Peer Review to be applied in compliance with the revised Nuclear Safety Directive. This Topical Peer review will be performed on a specific safety issue while keeping the spirit of the Stress-Tests achieved in 2011-2012 after Fukushima accident.
Moreover, Mr Chevet stated that he will carry on building strong relationships with the European Commission in a changing and challenging context for Nuclear Safety (reinforcement of nuclear safety measures in the light of the lessons learned from Fukushima accident, Long term operation of nuclear installations, improvement of the prevention and coordination between stakeholders in case of a nuclear accident).
