27 March 2025, 09:30 – 12:30 CET
(Online meeting, external participation via WEBEX)
The European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group, ENSREG, chose ‘fire-protection’ at nuclear installations as the area to be reviewed for the second topical peer review (TPR) under the amended EU Nuclear Safety Directive.
During this process which ran from 2022-2024:
- The 22 participating countries reviewed their provisions for fire protection to identify strengths and weaknesses and reported on them in national assessments;
- A team of peer review experts reviewed this information to share operating experience and identify findings: areas of good performance and areas for improvement; good practices and challenges at EU-level;
- Two workshops were organised to discuss the results of the self-assessments, the questions and answers on the national assessments, the outcomes of site visits, as well as the findings from the peer review with a view to concluding on both generic and country-specific findings on fire protection.
This second stakeholder event will present the overall TPR II process, activities and main findings of the peer review as described in the TPR II peer review reports, followed by an opportunity for discussion. The meeting will be chaired by Sylvie Cadet Mercier (ASNR), who is Chair of the ENSREG TPR II Board.
