The Commission decision of 17 July 2007 on establishing the European High Level Group on Nuclear Safety and Waste Management –which afterwards was renamed ENSREG- established that the latter would submit a report on its activities to the European Commission for onward transmission to the European Parliament and the Council. In compliance with these requirements, the Group issued its first report in mid-2009 and thereafter, updates the information at least every two years. This effective instrument to improve transparency contains a description of the activities of the group, and its major conclusions and recommendations, and their contribution to the continuous enhancement of nuclear safety in all EU Member States are explained.
